paint correction _ rupes

Paint correction is an inherently more involved process then a simple wax application, and generally follows either a one, two, or three stage process depending on how the paint is damaged

What is Detailing?

Car detailing is the art and craft of cleaning and restoring a vehicle to a “like-new” appearance . Car detailing services are much more precise and labor-intensive than your normal car wash. Car washes are normally an automated system that a car passes through to clean the exterior and can run the risk of adding more scratches to your cars paint due to the fabrics used. Professional auto detailing is always done by hand, and includes exterior and interior car detailing services.

How often should I detail my vehicle?

Most experinced detailers recommend a new detail every 4-6 months. In general however that is the rule of thumb, and your detailing frequency depends on 2 key factors, (1) your car and, (2) the type of person you are.

Someone who washes and cleans their vehicle consistently will need a detail less often than an someone who doesn’t.  If you are in general a clean individual, then detailing your car twice a year should be sufficient.

It is also never a bad thought to detail your car prior to selling it. A clean car can make a big difference on how much someone is willing to pay for it.

Polishing vs waxing.. what is the difference?

People assume that waxing and polishing are the same thing. However, they have completely different car detailing functions. Waxing is a process in which the exterior of a car is coated in order to protect the paint.

Waxing also helps prevent scratches on the clear coat that resides over the actual paint job. When a car is waxed, the car is better protected from other elements (like the sun and dirt).

You can think of a wax as a sacrificial protective layer that go over top your vehicles paint.

The Polishing process requires the use of mildly abrasive liquid compounds designed to smooth and enhance the sheen of paint. Over time, the paint and clear coat on your car can amass small scratches, swirl marks, rain spots and microscopic roughness from oxidization among other sorts of imperfections.

Through polishing ( as well as compounding and/or wet sanding) allow the paint on the vehicles exterior to be correction cleaned up back to its smoother condition.
